Eastampton Democrats Are The Solution
Many worry that the sky is falling. But what solutions do the
Republicans really have? Republican rhetoric is neither a solution nor a plan. The
Eastampton Democrats and the team of Keith Nagler, Louise Campbell and Jay
Springer have a real plan and a history of getting the job
done.
It
was Democrat leadership that:
1- Cut about $330,000 from the 2008 municipal
appropriations without having to cut any municipal services or laying off
personnel.
2- Listened to the residents and preserved over 1,200 acres of
land to prevent suburban sprawl.
3- Engaged the residents in the “Plan The Land” initiative
and designing the Village
Center. Phase 1 is
currently being built at the corner of Smithville and Woodlane Roads.
4- Made Woodlane
Road walker friendly by obtaining a grant to install
the sidewalk.
5- Attracted new business ratables and cleaned up or expanded existing
ones.
6- Worked with the Eastampton
School District to create the new Eastampton Community School.
7- Implemented
shared services for the Tax Assessor's office and trash collection for
condominiums and apartments, resulting in a 35% savings.
Without question, these are some of the
toughest economic times we have ever seen. Attracting new business ratables
is going to be very difficult, but we must be proactive. “Fail to plan is a plan
to fail.” Our solutions include:
1- An Economic Development Coordinator (already hired) paid on a commission basis by the
land owners and buyers NOT with your tax dollars. The coordinator actively contacts
businesses and commercial and Village
Center developers about
building in Eastampton.
2- Continue to reduce the cost of government by
implementing shared services in the Court, Construction Department and residential trash collection.
3- Maintain our own Police Department so that our families
will be safe walking and using the parks and that homes and businesses will remain secure.
4- Continue to move forward with your plan for the Village Center.
5- Continue to maintain the highest levels of open
government and ethical standards.
